In this role you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Providing high quality proactive advice and exceptional student/client centred service to students in relation to their programs and courses
- Being the primary point of contact for Indigenous students at Callaghan.
- Case management of student personal and academic needs
- Identifying student academic gaps and facilitate and oversee appropriate tutorial support.
- Assisting to identify Indigenous students ‘at risk’ by monitoring their academic progression and through regular contact.
- Developing initiatives (eg events, mentoring groups, cultural experiences to promote a positive student experience.
- Identifying opportunities for Work Integrated Learning for student placements.
This continuing position is full time at a HEW 6 Higher Education Worker level and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

The Wollotuka Institute of Indigenous Engagement and Advancement supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration to facilitate the achievement of quality outcomes that prioritises Indigenous students, and in particular, prepares Indigenous graduates who make a difference and to create impact within the University, in our communities and across the globe.

- Identify initiatives and make recommendations to achieve operational objectives linked to the Wollotuka Strategic Plan; and
- Engage with Community and Industry to provide advice on matters in relation to quality outcomes for Indigenous students.
It is desirable that you have a background of applied experience and knowledge of Health systems and related fields.

What we offer
The remuneration for this position is from $82,707 FTE plus 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

- Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and knowledge and understanding of the successes and issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Demonstrated experience or understanding of success factors to achieve a “student/client centred” model.
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation and evaluation of Indigenous student or community programs or similar in a large/complex organisation.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines with a demonstrated ability to be proactive and apply initiative.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working.
- Ability to generate a strong sense of team spirit, co-operation, and collaboration within and across teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively and bring together people from different areas to participate in School/Division or University wide initiatives.

A letter signed by an executive of an incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation, who has the authority to administer confirmation of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander status, on the organisations letterhead that they are accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived.
